(13-Oct-2009)
Category - Product News(Inks)

Printing on wide variety of substrates is now possible using UV inks, according to Mumbai based, CöLöRs, which offers a wide range of products such as offset spot colors, metallic shades, fluorescent colors, U.V inks, varnishes and high end specialty inks. And, it has recently introduced Transparent UV Screen inks for printing on metalized silver and gold foils (Met Pet).
These screen inks tend to give opaque effect especially on metalized foil; hence the surface effect of the substrate is not visible. Transparent inks are translucent, thus the glossy effect of the foil is maintained.
This ink opens a whole gamut of opportunities for packaging printers like perfume carton and saree boxes where metalized foil (gold and silver) is widely used, as claimed by the company.
Four color inks are available for trapping purpose though it will reduce the transparency. CöLöRs suggest that UV inks should be used for over printing. These inks can be used on printed materials for better effect. It is also suggested that optimum effects are obtained by printing the inks directly on foils.
Technically speaking, the recommended fabric is Polyester 120T. Angle of Squeegee and Shore Hardness can be normal with shore hardness of 75. The flood bar can also be in normal position. It should be noted that the prints cannot be creased and Colors has recommended testing the inks before commencing the job.
Since its setup in 2001 under the technical guidance of Micro Inks, part of the Huber Group - Germany, CöLöRs has been providing quality matching and specialty products to printers in and around Mumbai. Its unit is well equipped to match and manufacture high end production with stringent quality control. It is also the first Ink Matching Center to be certified with the Quality Management System requirements of ISO 9001:2000.
